Introducing Inventel SEO App: Stop Losing Shopify Sales to Broken Links and Weak SEO
Every Shopify store leaks traffic. A product gets renamed and its old URL breaks. A collection is retired but Google still sends visitors to it. A campaign link in last month's Instagram post now leads to a "Page not found" screen. Each of these is a shopper who arrived ready to buy, and left with nothing. Most store owners never see these leaks, because Shopify does not show you which broken pages people are landing on, or how many times. Today we are launching the tool we built to fix that: Inventel SEO App, a Shopify app that brings redirects, 404 tracking, search visibility, meta tags, image alt text, structured data and theme audits into one dashboard. In this post we explain how it works, what it does, and, most importantly, how it helps your store turn more of its existing traffic into sales. When sales slow down, the usual reaction is to spend more on ads. But paid traffic gets more expensive every year, and the moment you stop paying, it stops coming. Organic search traffic works differently. A product page that ranks well brings visitors every day, for free, and that compounds over months and years. That compounding only works if your store is technically healthy. Search engines and shoppers both punish the same problems: Fixing these is not glamorous, but it is one of the highest-return things a store can do: you get more sales from the traffic you are already paying for or already ranking for. Sustainable growth is built on that foundation, before you scale ad spend. Inventel SEO App is an embedded Shopify app. You install it from inside your Shopify admin, and everything runs there: no separate login, no code to paste into your theme. It is built around one idea: find the problems that cost you traffic, then fix them in bulk, not one page at a time. The app covers five areas of store health: You manage every redirect from a single list. Behind the scenes the app picks the right method for each one: The app also handles a Shopify quirk that trips up many merchants: Shopify's own redirects only fire when the old URL is actually broken. If the old URL still belongs to a live product or collection, a normal redirect would silently never fire. Inventel SEO App detects this, saves it as a rule instead, and tells you why. Rules also include loop protection, so a bad rule cannot trap a shopper in an endless redirect. They also keep shoppers on their market and language URL, which matters if you sell internationally with Shopify Markets. With the theme app embed switched on, the app records every time a shopper lands on your 404 page: which URL they tried, where they came from, and how often it happens. You get a ranked list of the broken URLs that matter most. For each one, the app suggests a redirect by matching the broken URL against your real product and collection handles. You can apply suggestions one at a time, or all at once. One searchable list for all of your 301 redirects and smart rules, with editing and bulk delete. A built-in Test URL tool tells you exactly what will happen when a shopper visits any address on your store, before you publish a change. Rules go far beyond "old URL to new URL": Migrating from WooCommerce, Magento or an old Shopify store? Import up to 20,000 redirects in a single file. The importer accepts Shopify's own export format, common alternative column names, or a plain two-column file. Before anything is created, every row is checked and marked as fine, duplicate, error, or part of a redirect chain that the app will flatten for you. Rules can be imported and exported as CSV too, up to 2,000 at a time. Redirects pile up over the years, and they start to conflict. The app scans for duplicate redirects, redirect chains (A to B to C, which slows shoppers down and wastes crawl budget), redirect loops, and rules that conflict with your 301s. Safe fixes apply with one click, or in bulk. See every broken URL shoppers actually hit, with hit counts and the page they came from. Mark each one as open, resolved or ignored, apply suggested redirects, and choose how long the log is kept. Hide thin or duplicate pages from search engines, such as test products, old landing pages or internal collections, without deleting them. Hidden pages get a noindex tag and are removed from your sitemap. You can do it page by page or in bulk, across products, collections, pages, blogs and articles. The app scans your products, collections, pages and articles and flags titles and descriptions that are missing, too long, too short or duplicated. A Google-style preview shows how each listing will look in search results. To fix hundreds of pages at once, use templates such as Find product images with missing alt text, alt text that is just a file name, or alt text that is too long. The app suggests alt text built from the product name, brand and variant, which you can apply individually or in bulk. It is good for accessibility, and good for showing up in Google Images. Every page should have exactly one clear H1 heading. The app crawls your home page, products, collections, pages and articles, up to 2,000 URLs, and flags pages with no H1, more than one H1, or headings in the wrong order. Results export to CSV for your team or developer. Structured data helps Google understand your pages, and can help them appear as rich results. Switch on site-wide schema for Organization, WebSite (with sitelinks search box), Product, Article, Collection and Breadcrumbs. On individual pages you can build FAQ schema, add custom JSON-LD with live validation, and enrich product details. The app also finds duplicate schema, a common problem when a theme and several apps all output the same markup, and shows you where each copy comes from. The app runs Shopify's Theme Check plus its own SEO checks on your theme code. It catches multiple H1s in templates, images missing alt text or lazy loading, oversized JavaScript, CSS and image files, and conflicting schema. Issues are graded as critical, warning or info, scored by category (SEO, performance, accessibility, best practices), and can be exported to CSV, Excel or Word. You can also have the app re-audit automatically whenever your theme changes, so a theme update never quietly breaks your SEO. Inventel SEO App includes an MCP server, the open standard AI assistants like Claude use to connect to tools. Connect your assistant with a secure store token and ask questions such as "What are the biggest SEO problems on my store?" or "Which 404s are getting the most hits?". The connection is read-only: your assistant can analyse your store, but it cannot change anything. SEO tools often talk about rankings. Store owners care about revenue. Here is how each part of the app connects to sales: Growth is not a one-time fix. It is a habit of measuring, fixing and monitoring. Inventel SEO App is built around that loop: Every fix builds on the last. A store with clean redirects, strong listings and healthy theme code earns more from every rupee spent on marketing, because less of that traffic is wasted. That is the kind of growth that lasts: not a spike from one campaign, but a store that steadily converts better month after month. Standard one-to-one redirects are created as native Shopify 301 redirects, the permanent type search engines expect. Smart rules with patterns, conditions or schedules run in the shopper's browser through the theme app embed. They are ideal for campaigns, geo-targeting and personalisation. For permanent URL moves, the app uses 301s wherever Shopify allows it. No. Everything runs inside your Shopify admin, and the theme app embed is switched on with a single toggle. There is no theme code to edit. Yes. Upload a CSV of up to 20,000 rows. Shopify's own redirect export works as-is, and the app checks every row for duplicates, chains and errors before importing. Yes. Smart rules can target visitors by country, and they keep shoppers on their market and language URL when redirecting. Yes. Staff roles control who can view, edit or change settings, and every change is recorded in the activity log. Your store is already getting visitors. Inventel SEO App makes sure fewer of them hit a dead end, and more of them find the product they came for. Install Inventel SEO App on your Shopify store and run your first audit today.
